5th day in a row, whistleblowers families demonstrate outside INC and BJP offices to demand whistleblowers protection and grievance redress bills

Today, for the 5th day in a row, close to 200 people from families of whistleblowers who have been killed for exposing corruption, held a demonstration outside the offices of the BJP & Congress. The protesters, along with NCPRI, demanded the immediate passage of the Whistleblowers Protection Bill and the Grievance Redress Bill.

The protesters were extremely disappointed to see the disruptions and adjournment of both Houses of Parliament. Many of them demanded answers from MPs on why they were disrupting Parliament.

The BJP met with the protesters and assured its support for passage of Whistleblowers Protection bill and Grievance Redress bill.

Mr. J P Nadda, BJP National Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP, addressed the families of whistleblowers. Mr. Nadda said that the BJP will support the passage of the Grievance Redress Bill and Whistleblowers Protection Bill. He said that BJP had also spoken in support of these bills during discussions in the Parliament. He said that the day the government ensures that the Parliament is functioning, the BJP will demand the passage of these bills and will fully support their passage. The NCPRI welcomes the statement of the BJP.

Outside the Congress office, Member of Parliament and Congress National Secretary, Shri Mohan Prakash, met the protestors and assured them that the Congress is committed to the passage of the 2 bills.

The NCPRI demands that the Parliament function and that the government take whatever steps are necessary to ensure the 2 bills are taken up immediately in Parliament.
